Since we announced in the Spring, that we would be suspending the Cinema Club, the village hall committee has been looking at alternatives, as they not only consider the cinema club to be an asset to the village, but also a useful trump card in their bid for funding for the new hall. Although they have looked at several options, these will not be available till summer 2017. We have therefore decided to run the Cinema Club for another season, until May 2017.
This year we are trying a new format. We are therefore inviting villagers to join the cinema club, for a subscription of £10. Entry for films, from September 2016 through to May 2017 will be free. This format is in use by several village halls, and public houses, which were highlighted on the BBC consumer programme ‘You and Yours’.
There are certain restrictions. Advertising is limited to in-house publicity, although we consider that A boards, and the Parish Magazine article qualify, as do the village and village hall websites. Entry must be free and be restricted to paid up members of the cinema club. The premises need to have a performance licence which the VH has. This costs £87.00 per annum, rather than the £100 single performance licence for each film. Bar or food sales are not affected. Guests of members will be able to buy a 24-hour membership for £5.00.
The autumn schedule for 2016-17 is as follows In each case doors open 18:45 for 19:30 start.: -
